Have I gone mad?

Sometimes it feels like I am in an imense empty room, yelling at the top of my lungs.  At other times I feel like I'm on a crowded street, trying to yell and shout to get someone to hear me and listen, but everyone just walks by...a blank look on thier face.  What is going on?  The things that are happening seem to be happening without any reason.  Does no one care that we are heading to a huge increase in energy prices?  Does no one care that nationalizing the health care system is a disaster?  Does anyone care, or do they not want to care?  I am starting to think that many people like the idea of someone taking care of them...someone to make all the decisions and remove all responsibility.  Are we destined to be slaves?  I do not want to be a slave...and I do not want my precious daughter to be a slave.  What can I do?  I keep yelling in that empty room.  I keep wandering the crowded streets and trying to wake people up, to see what is happening right before thier eyes.  My only fear is that too many people would rather live the simple life of a slave...to have someone take care of them and make all the decisions.  When the promise of opportunity is gone, when freedom is gone and all that is left is to simply obey and survive, well, few could fail in that life.  Do people fear freedom?  What has happened to us?  Have we become too lazy and selfish?  I was arguing with a friend about Obamacare.  He is so excited...he saw a great story on TV where several people were interviewed about the outstanding health care system in France.  It explained how life is so much better in France, where the work week is only 35 hours, and there are guaranteed vacations, and yada yada yada.  They neglected to mention the fact that many people in France cannot afford automobiles, how many families do not have a full size refrigerator/freezer, and how much smaller the average house is compared to how much room we are used to.  America was founded on the idea of opportunity.  You can accomplish anything, if you had the desire and put in the effort.  But you could fail, too.  Do we want to take away the opportunity so there is no more failure?  Crazy.  I just finished reading Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand.  I had read it quickly in college...and forgot most of it.  But I read the chapter where a doctor is explaining why he quit practicing for the "people." He thought it unfair that he had to sacrifice his talent, his skill, so that people who would only keep demanding more and more of him would benefit from his profession.  Far too often the "people" want everything, but are unwilling to produce anything.  And they consume everything without thought to anyone...but by God, you better keep giving.  Consider that Ayn was right...selfishness is a virtue.  You should work for your benefit...because you love to produce, and you love to earn, and you deserve what you earn...every penny.  It is yours.  A robber would go to jail for trying to steal your belongings, yet the "people" have given the government the right to steal your property, legally!  You are the reason you work.  You work to provide for yourself.  And the worst word in the world is "give."  The worst story in the world is Robin Hood.  Things I had forgotten for years are starting to come back into focus and things are clicking into place.  Will I run for political office?  Naw...this is more fun!  But I want to at least begin setting down my thoughts into some coherent pattern, and to start sharing some some thoughts on the news that I read that scares me!  God Bless!

A beginning....

Ok, so I begin by opening my blog.  I am going to try and work out my thoughts and rant and rave.  An alternative title would be...A Father's Apology to his Daughter and the Future.  We will see!  Have fun, and lets work through the madness!  God Bless America!
